Young Media Representatives Visit Oil Rocks within the Framework of the Energy Dialogue Platform
The media representatives first visited the monument of National Leader Heydar Aliyev and laid flowers in tribute to his memory. During a tour of the museum bearing the National Leader’s name, the delegation was briefed on historical photographs reflecting his attention and support for the development of Azerbaijan’s oil industry.
The young journalists also became acquainted with a photo exhibition showcasing the past and present of Oil Rocks, as well as the operations of the Gas Turbine Power Plant. The participants received information about the world’s first offshore oil well drilled using industrial methods, including its history and years of operation. They were also introduced to the Central Control Room for the Absheron Unmanned Offshore Platform at Oil Rocks, the first unmanned platform in the Caspian Sea.
 
As part of the visit, the media representatives toured the monument to prominent oil geologist Aghagurban Aliyev, as well as memorial complexes dedicated to oil workers who lost their lives during the conquest of the Caspian Sea and those who heroically fell in the defense of Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity. The participants paid tribute to the memory of the martyrs and viewed the monument erected to mark the 30th anniversary of Oil Rocks.
 
The visit continued with another information session attended by Shalala Huseynova, Deputy Vice President of SOCAR; Nargiz Jabbarli, Advisor to the SOCAR Vice President; and Maarif Allahverdiyev, Chief Geologist and Deputy General Director of Azneft Production Union.
During the session, the young journalists received detailed information on SOCAR’s exploration, development and production activities, the achievements attained and future objectives. Questions raised by the media representatives were also addressed.
