The submarine cable intended for the Trans-Caspian fiber-optic project has been delivered to Baku aboard the ferry vessel “Azerbaijan”
As a key component of the “Digital Silk Way” project, which aims to establish a new digital corridor between Europe and Asia, the submarine cable intended for the construction of the Trans-Caspian Fiber Optic Cable Line (FOCL) was transported from the Kurik port in Kazakhstan to the Baku port by Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping Company (ASCO), a company under AZCON Holding, using its ferry vessel “Azərbaycan”.
The oversized and heavy cargo was delivered to the Kurik port by a convoy of three specialized transport vehicles, loaded onto ASCO’s ferry vessel, and safely transported across the Caspian Sea to Baku. Upon arrival at the port, the cargo was successfully unloaded.
It should be noted that within the framework of the project, ASCO acts not only as a carrier but also as a partner in maritime operations. Previously, ASCO’s vessel “Turkan” participated in the marine route survey works for the Trans-Caspian Fiber Optic Cable Line project, conducting studies of coastal areas and the seabed.
